Susanne R.M. Adamson MD, FACOG

Specialty: Ob/Gyn

Dr. Susanne R.M. Adamson was born and raised in Sweden. She graduated from University of Uppsala Medical School, Sweden in 1987. Dr. Adamson did her obstetrics/gynecology residency training at the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, MD from 1987-1991.
Before relocating to South Jersey in 1999, Dr. Adamson spent eight years in private Ob/Gyn practice in Columbia, Maryland. After practicing for an additional eight years in Voorhees, NJ, Dr. Adamson worked with Dr. Godorecci to found the OB/GYN Specialists in 2006. Dr. Adamson has over 30 years of experience in gynecological surgery, most notably with expertise in laparoscopic surgery. She brings decades of compassion and experience to obstetrics as well, especially high-risk obstetrics.  Her experience in high risk obstetrics is well recognized by Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) specialists that practice throughout the region. The OB/GYN Specialists routinely receive referrals from MFM practices for their high-risk patients. Dr. Adamson has special expertise with mothers expecting twins, including cases when the second twin is not head first and mothers prefer a vaginal delivery instead of an automatic C-section, as is done in many practices. In fact, the OB/GYN Specialists are proud to maintain one of the lowest C-section rates in the region.
Dr. Adamson is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has received the American Medical Association Physician Excellence Award and is listed by the American Top Physician in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the Consumers’ Research Council. For the past several years Dr. Adamson has been recognized as a Top Doctor in South Jersey and was the recipient of Virtua’s “Super Star Award” for her outstanding team leadership in Labor and Delivery. At Virtua Hospital, Dr. Adamson is the Director of the post-partum floors. She is a member of the Ob-Leadership Committee, and the Physician Champion for Baby Friendly, a World Health Organization initiative that serves to enable the women who choose to breastfeed reach their breastfeeding goals.
Dr. Adamson is married to Peter C. Adamson, MD, a pediatric oncologist, and together they have four children. When not working, Dr. Adamson enjoys running (with her dog), biking and swimming (and even participates triathlons). In the winter, she enjoys skiing and snowshoeing in the Adirondacks.  Vacation time is usually spent visiting family in Sweden, or traveling to various destinations around the country and world to attend meetings or visit with her children.
